Search Form

Purpose

Use the Search Posts module to let visitors search a custom post type (and optional filters), then land on a Theme Builder search results layout with Archive Loop.

Set up the search form

  1. Open the page, post, or Theme Builder layout where the form should appear.
  2. Add the Search Posts module and set Search Post Type under Main Options. See the Search Posts module reference for every setting.
  3. Add a Search Item for the keyword field (and any other filters you need).
  4. Style the module under the Design tab (text, icon, alignment, sizing).
  5. Go to Divi Engine → Machine Settings → Search settings and enable Use Divi Machine Search, then choose common fields and ACF groups to include.
  6. Create a Search Results Theme Builder template with Archive Loop and your custom loop layout.
  7. Optional: assign a No Results layout on the Archive Loop.

Search Posts dropdown only

Search Posts live search shows results in a dropdown only. To refresh a grid below the field while typing, use Filter Posts + Archive Loop (and optionally Update archive while typing).

  • Allow live search for Search Posts modules — Site-wide kill switch in Machine Search settings.
  • Opt out of a single enhanced form with data-dmach-live-search="off" on the form or field.
